Last week I did what I do all the time – got on a flight to a Medtronic faculty summit. I had seen that there was a #keynote speaker on the agenda, but it was not disclosed who it would be. When I walked into the hotel and saw my old friend and residency neighbor Dr. Feranmi Okanlami, I just smiled ear to ear and could not wait to hear his wisdom. We have all come a long way, and our journeys led us to the same place. The last photo of us was June 2014, now we have January 2024. It will not be a decade before we cross paths again. I have been motivated to be better at staying in touch with the people I appreciate in life. This is a reminder to us all that you don’t have to wait to be fortunately in the same place to reconnect with people who made an impression on you. Take the time and energy to reach out.
